- Patch 16.15 is the first Worlds prep
- patch of the season. Riot is using the
- next 5 patches (15-19) to stabilize the
- meta before Worlds 2026, which starts
- October 16 in the US. This patch
- focuses on three goals: (1) buff
- underperforming junglers, (2) nerf
- overperforming top-laners, and (3)
- ship the long-awaited Warding system
- overhaul.

- The jungle role has been dominated
- by Wukong, Briar, and Kha'Zix since
- Patch 16.5. The 3 underperforming
- junglers (Vi, Lee Sin, Viego) get
- meaningful buffs:
- **Vi**: Q damage 60/90/120/150/180
- → 70/100/130/160/190. E bonus
- AD ratio 110% → 130%. R cooldown
- 120/100/80 → 100/85/70s. **Riot
- wants Vi back in pro play** —
- she hasn't been a meta pick
- since Spring 2025.
- **Lee Sin**: Base armor 34 →
- 36. Q damage 55/80/105/130/155
- → 60/85/110/135/160. W shield
- 50/90/130/170/210 → 60/100/140/180/220.
- **Lee Sin is the most-played
- jungler in solo queue** but
- the lowest win rate (49%). The
- buffs should bring him back to
- 51-52% without making him
- oppressive.
- **Viego**: Base attack speed
- 0.658 → 0.685. Passive AD
- ratio 50% → 60%. R cooldown
- 120/100/80 → 110/95/75s.
- **Viego is the highest-skill-cap
- jungler** and the buffs reward
- mastery without buffing
- low-level play.
- Camille and Renekton have been
- top-lane bullies for 2 years. The
- nerfs:
- **Camille**: Passive shield
- duration 2s → 1.5s. E damage
- 70/105/140/175/210 →
- 60/95/130/165/200. R bonus
- HP ratio 20/30/40% →
- 15/25/35%. **Camille is the
- most-banned top in pro play**
- and the nerfs bring her back
- to a healthy 51-52% win rate
- in solo queue.
- **Renekton**: Q heal 15/30/45/60/75
- → 10/25/40/55/70. W stun
- duration 1.5s → 1.25s. R bonus
- HP 300/500/700 → 250/400/550.
- **Renekton has been a top-lane
- terror since Season 14** and
- the nerfs bring him back to
- a manageable 50-51% win rate.
- After 2 years of player feedback,
- Riot is replacing the Trinket
- system with a new Warding system.
- The changes:
- **Wards are now free** (no
- Trinket slot, no 1-ward
- limit). You can place as many
- wards as you have gold for.
- **Ward gold cost is now 0**
- (was 0 for Trinket, but Trinket
- had a long cooldown). You can
- spam wards as fast as you can
- place them.
- **Control Ward gold cost is
- now 50** (was 75). Control
- Wards are now more accessible.
- **Warding totem removed**.
- You can only place Sight Wards
- and Control Wards.
- **Riot's reasoning**: The Trinket
- system forced supports to choose
- between combat summoners (Ignite,
- Exhaust) and utility summoners
- (the Trinket). Removing Trinkets
- and making wards free means
- supports can take both Ignite
- and Exhaust, and wards are now
- a real strategic resource
- (limited by gold, not by slot).
- **Pro play impact**: The Warding
- overhaul is a huge buff to
- vision control. Pro teams will
- be able to ward the entire map
- in mid-late game, which favors
- teamfight-oriented compositions
- over split-push. Expect more
- 5v5 teamfights at Worlds 2026.
- Tumble would sometimes fail
- to register the critical
- strike. This was a 5-year-old
- bug that only affected 0.1%
- of Vayne players.
- Maiden of the Mist would
- sometimes fail to spawn after
- R. This was a 2-year-old bug.
- Death Mark would sometimes
- trigger on allies. This was
- a 6-year-old bug that
- thankfully only affected
- 0.01% of Zed players.
- Summoner's Rift** — Riot
- finally fixed the long-running
- FPS issue on Summoner's Rift
- that affected low-end PCs.
- **30% memory reduction on
- Howling Abyss** — ARAM players
- on low-end PCs will see a
- significant memory reduction.
- **Faster loading times** —
- Champion select now loads
- 20% faster.

Jungle buffs (the big story)
The jungle role has been dominated by Wukong, Briar, and Kha'Zix since Patch 16.5. The 3 underperforming junglers (Vi, Lee Sin, Viego) get meaningful buffs:
- Vi: Q damage 60/90/120/150/180
→ 70/100/130/160/190. E bonus AD ratio 110% → 130%. R cooldown 120/100/80 → 100/85/70s. Riot wants Vi back in pro play — she hasn't been a meta pick since Spring 2025.
- Lee Sin: Base armor 34 →
- Q damage 55/80/105/130/155
→ 60/85/110/135/160. W shield 50/90/130/170/210 → 60/100/140/180/220. Lee Sin is the most-played jungler in solo queue but the lowest win rate (49%). The buffs should bring him back to 51-52% without making him oppressive.
- Viego: Base attack speed
0.658 → 0.685. Passive AD ratio 50% → 60%. R cooldown 120/100/80 → 110/95/75s. Viego is the highest-skill-cap jungler and the buffs reward mastery without buffing low-level play.
Top-lane nerfs (the other big story)
Camille and Renekton have been top-lane bullies for 2 years. The nerfs:
- Camille: Passive shield
duration 2s → 1.5s. E damage 70/105/140/175/210 → 60/95/130/165/200. R bonus HP ratio 20/30/40% → 15/25/35%. Camille is the most-banned top in pro play and the nerfs bring her back to a healthy 51-52% win rate in solo queue.
- Renekton: Q heal 15/30/45/60/75
→ 10/25/40/55/70. W stun duration 1.5s → 1.25s. R bonus HP 300/500/700 → 250/400/550. Renekton has been a top-lane terror since Season 14 and the nerfs bring him back to a manageable 50-51% win rate.
Warding system overhaul (the big change)
After 2 years of player feedback, Riot is replacing the Trinket system with a new Warding system. The changes:
- Wards are now free (no
Trinket slot, no 1-ward limit). You can place as many wards as you have gold for.
- Ward gold cost is now 0
(was 0 for Trinket, but Trinket had a long cooldown). You can spam wards as fast as you can place them.
- **Control Ward gold cost is
now 50** (was 75). Control Wards are now more accessible.
- Warding totem removed.
You can only place Sight Wards and Control Wards.
Riot's reasoning: The Trinket system forced supports to choose between combat summoners (Ignite, Exhaust) and utility summoners (the Trinket). Removing Trinkets and making wards free means supports can take both Ignite and Exhaust, and wards are now a real strategic resource (limited by gold, not by slot).
Pro play impact: The Warding overhaul is a huge buff to vision control. Pro teams will be able to ward the entire map in mid-late game, which favors teamfight-oriented compositions over split-push. Expect more 5v5 teamfights at Worlds 2026.
Bug fixes
- Vayne: Fixed a bug where
Tumble would sometimes fail to register the critical strike. This was a 5-year-old bug that only affected 0.1% of Vayne players.
- Yorick: Fixed a bug where
Maiden of the Mist would sometimes fail to spawn after R. This was a 2-year-old bug.
- Zed: Fixed a bug where
Death Mark would sometimes trigger on allies. This was a 6-year-old bug that thankfully only affected 0.01% of Zed players.
Performance
- **15% FPS improvement on
Summoner's Rift** — Riot finally fixed the long-running FPS issue on Summoner's Rift that affected low-end PCs.
- **30% memory reduction on
Howling Abyss** — ARAM players on low-end PCs will see a significant memory reduction.
- Faster loading times —
Champion select now loads 20% faster.
