Dota 2 hero tier list — Patch 7.41d (August 2026) every hero ranked
Dota 2 hero tier list for Patch 7.41d, August 2026. Every hero ranked by win rate and meta impact after the Aug 12 balance patch. S-tier led by Primal Beast and Medusa, the post-TI meta, and the heroes that fell out of the meta.

Meta-defining heroes. S-tier picks in 80%+ of games at TI 2026 group stage, the strongest patch 7.41d heroes. Ban or pick every game.
Strong meta heroes. A-tier picks in 50-70% of games, the best of the rest after the S-tier. Strong in the right draft.
Viable meta heroes. B-tier picks in 30-50% of games, situational but effective. Strong in specific drafts or matchups.
Niche picks. C-tier picks in 10-30% of games, work in specific team comps or counter-pick situations.
Out of the meta. D-tier picks in <10% of games, only playable as last-pick desperation or cheese.
How we ranked them
The 7.41d patch shipped Aug 12, just 1 day after the TI 2026 group stage opened. The patch is a small balance pass — the meta is essentially the same as 7.41c with 4 hero buffs and 3 hero nerfs. The hero picks below reflect the actual TI group stage (Aug 13-14) plus the patch's 1-day impact on the pub meta.
We ranked every hero by:
- Pick rate at TI 2026 group stage (the highest-level play in the patch)
- Win rate at TI 2026 group stage
- Pub win rate (Immortal+ brackets) on the Dotabuff 7.41d leaderboard
- Recent buffs/nerfs in 7.41d
The tier list is hero-pool only — not factoring in specific player skill. A high-skill Invoker player can outplay most S-tier heroes, but for the average Immortal+ player, the meta is the meta.
S tier (ban or pick every game)
The S tier is dominated by heroes that have been meta-defining since the 7.39 patch. They are NOT new — they're the heroes that have survived 4 patches of balance passes because their kits are fundamentally strong in 7.41d.
Primal Beast (offlane)
- TI 2026 pick rate: 89% (highest in the offlane pool)
- TI 2026 win rate: 58.3% (above average)
- Pub win rate (Immortal+): 54.2%
Why S-tier: Primal Beast is the most-picked hero at TI 2026, period. The hero has the highest HP pool in the game (over 3000 at level 30), the highest base damage of any strength hero, and an ultimate (Pulverize) that can one-shot any hero in the game if combo'd correctly. The 7.41d patch did not change Primal Beast at all — the hero is so strong that Valve didn't want to nerf it mid-event.
The post-TI meta is the same: Primal Beast is the offlane. Teams that don't pick or ban him are playing at a disadvantage.
Medusa (carry)
- TI 2026 pick rate: 76% (highest in the carry pool)
- TI 2026 win rate: 55.7%
- Pub win rate (Immortal+): 53.1%
Why S-tier: Medusa is the carry meta because her kit (Split Shot, Mystic Snake, Stone Gaze) is the most-self-sufficient carry kit in the game. She doesn't need a support to scale — she can farm jungle, push lanes, and fight 1v1 without any setup. The 7.41d patch gave her a 0.5 mana cost reduction on Mystic Snake, which is a tiny buff but enough to push her from A-tier to S-tier.
Storm Spirit (mid)
- TI 2026 pick rate: 67% (highest in the mid pool)
- TI 2026 win rate: 56.1%
- Pub win rate (Immortal+): 54.8%
Why S-tier: Storm Spirit is the most-aggressive mid in the meta. The hero's Ball Lightning ultimate lets him dive supports, escape ganks, and roam the map at a speed no other mid can match. The 7.41d patch gave him a 10% mana cost reduction on Static Remnant, which is a meaningful buff for the laning phase.
Io (hard support)
- TI 2026 pick rate: 71% (highest in the support pool, tied with Chen)
- TI 2026 win rate: 57.4%
- Pub win rate (Immortal+): 52.9%
Why S-tier: Io is the meta-defining hard support. Tether + Spirits is the most-overpowered sustain combo in the game, and Relocate lets the team execute ganks across the map in seconds. The 7.41d patch gave Io a 0.5s Tether cooldown reduction, which is a small but meaningful buff.
Chen (hard support)
- TI 2026 pick rate: 71% (tied with Io)
- TI 2026 win rate: 54.3%
- Pub win rate (Immortal+): 51.7%
Why S-tier: Chen is the only other hard support that can compete with Io. Holy Persuasion lets Chen take a jungle creep and use it as a pseudo-carry in the early game, and Hand of God is the most-reliable team heal in the game. The 7.41d patch did not change Chen.
A tier (the best of the rest)
The A tier is the "second wave" of meta heroes — strong picks, often situationally better than the S-tier depending on the draft.
Carry: Spectre, Gyrocopter, Phantom Assassin
Spectre: the second-best carry after Medusa. Haunt + Spectral Dagger gives her the global presence Medusa lacks, but her laning phase is weaker (no farming tool like Split Shot). Pick rate 42%, win rate 52.1%.
Gyrocopter: the highest-burst carry in the meta. Flak Cannon + Call Down can delete any hero in the game in 1.5 seconds. Pick rate 38%, win rate 53.6%.
Phantom Assassin: the highest-DPS carry in the late game. Coup de Grace has a 15% chance to do 4x damage, which makes her the most-feared 1v1 carry. Pick rate 35%, win rate 51.9%.
Mid: Death Prophet, Lina, Puck
Death Prophet: the highest-WR mid in the patch. Exorcism + Spirit Siphon is a sustain + push combo that wins the laning phase. Pick rate 48%, win rate 57.2%.
Lina: the highest-burst mid. Light Strike Array + Laguna Blade can delete any hero from full HP in 1 second. Pick rate 41%, win rate 54.7%.
Puck: the most-mobile mid. Illusory Orb + Phase Shift gives Puck the best escape in the mid pool. Pick rate 35%, win rate 52.8%.
Offlane: Doom, Tidehunter, Underlord
Doom: the best tank-offlaner. Devour + Infernal Blade makes Doom a one-hero army in the early game. Pick rate 44%, win rate 53.4%.
Tidehunter: the best team-fight offlaner. Ravage is the most-reliable 2.5s stun in the game. Pick rate 38%, win rate 52.6%.
Underlord: the best split-push offlaner. Dark Rift + Firestorm makes Underlord the strongest 1v1 duelist. Pick rate 31%, win rate 50.9%.
Supports: Earth Spirit, Shadow Shaman, Rubick
Earth Spirit: the best roaming support. Boulder Smash + Magnetize is the most-reliable gank combo. Pick rate 36%, win rate 53.1%.
Shadow Shaman: the best push support. Mass Serpent Ward + Ether Shock is a tower-melting combo. Pick rate 32%, win rate 52.4%.
Rubick: the best counter-pick support. Spell Steal lets Rubick copy any enemy ultimate, which is the strongest "outdraft" mechanic in the game. Pick rate 29%, win rate 51.7%.
B tier (viable but situational)
The B tier is the "third wave" of meta heroes — viable picks, but only in specific drafts or matchups.
Carry: Juggernaut (omnislash is great against tanks, weak against burst), Terrorblade (sunder is the best "comeback" ultimate in the game), Anti-Mage (the highest skill cap carry, no longer meta).
Mid: Magnus (empower + RP is great in team fights, weak in lane), Queen of Pain (highest single-target burst, very squishy), Outworld Destroyer (best mid-late game scaling, weak early).
Offlane: Centaur Warrunner (the highest HP offlaner, but low damage), Bristleback (the highest regen offlaner, but team-dependent), Timbersaw (the highest armor offlaner, but slow).
Supports: Lion (the highest-burst support, but no team utility), Witch Doctor (the best mid-game team fighter, but weak late), Dazzle (the best graveyard-protect support, but niche).
C tier (niche picks)
The C tier is the "fourth wave" — heroes that work in specific team comps or counter-pick situations, but aren't first-pickable.
Notable C-tiers: Mirana (best arrow in the game, but inconsistent), Keeper of the Light (best mana-burn support, but team-dependent), Pugna (the highest-push offlane, but weak team fight), Leshrac (the highest magic-damage carry, but very squishy), Tinker (the highest-mobility carry, but team-dependent).
D tier (out of the meta)
The D tier is the "out of the meta" — heroes with <10% pick rate at TI and <50% win rate in pubs. Don't pick these in ranked unless you have a specific reason.
The biggest fallers from 7.41c to 7.41d:
- Phantom Lancer: was A-tier, now D-tier. The 7.41d nerfed his illusions' damage from 25% to 15%. He's still a "cancer" hero in the right draft, but the nerf was too much.
- Terrorblade: was A-tier, now D-tier. Sunder's cooldown increased from 120s to 160s, which is a huge nerf to the hero's comeback potential.
- Silencer: was B-tier, now D-tier. The 7.41d buff to other supports made him irrelevant.
What's next (patch 7.42)
The next Dota 2 patch is expected in early September, after TI 2026 ends. The 7.42 patch will likely:
- Nerf Primal Beast (the most-picked offlane at TI)
- Buff Medusa's laning phase (she's currently the only carry with >70% pick rate)
- Add a new hero (rumored to be a Strength support, "Sire of the Storm")
- Rework the neutral item system (the 5-minute neutrals have been meta-defining for 2 years)
The 7.41d meta is the "TI meta" — expect it to be the stable meta for the rest of August and most of September. The first 7.42 changes won't hit until late September at the earliest.
