Apex Legends World’s Edge rework: 3 new POIs, aurora borealis sky, and the Climatizer + East Village
Apex Legends Season 30 reworks World’s Edge with 3 new POIs (Climatizer + East Village, Tree Settlement, Countdown), an aurora borealis nighttime sky, and an old-god aesthetic. The biggest map change since World's Edge 2.0 in 2021.

Apex Legends Season 30 "Marked" launches August 4, 2026 with the biggest World's Edge rework since 2021. The map has shifted to an "old-god aesthetic" with the aurora borealis glowing in the night sky and 3 new POIs replacing familiar areas.
The 3 new POIs
Climatizer + East Village
Climatizer is the largest new POI, a frozen industrial complex claimed by Bloodhound's tribe. The complex has multiple vertical levels, an indoor combat arena, and a rooftop with sight lines to most of the map.
East Village is the residential area adjacent to Climatizer, with unique architecture and a massive Longhouse (the largest indoor building on any Apex map).
The combined POI is the new "hot drop" — every squad contests it on rotation.
Tree Settlement
Tree Settlement is the new vertical-movement POI, designed to reward skilled movement. The POI has:
- 4 platform levels connected
by zip lines
- A central tree with climbing
routes
- 3 high-ground chokepoints
- 1 sniper tower
Tree Settlement is the new "movement" map for Apex. Top players will spend 30+ hours learning the optimal routes in the first month.
Countdown (replaces
Fragment East)
Countdown replaces Fragment East. The new POI has:
- A central open arena
- 4 surrounding high-ground
positions
- 2 underground tunnels
- A new "vault" interior
room
Countdown is the new "competitive" POI. The open central arena rewards aim-and-game-sense over positioning, which means the casual-to-ranked skill gap is more pronounced here than on most POIs.
The aurora borealis sky
The new aurora borealis skybox is the most-visible aesthetic change. The sky cycles through 4 color states over the course of a match:
- Blue-green at match
start
- Purple-pink at the
first ring close
- Green-gold at the
second ring close
- Deep red at the final
ring (the "blood sky")
The colors are a visual cue for the current ring phase. Veteran players will unconsciously learn to read the sky for ring timing.
The old-god aesthetic
The new map is themed around "old-god aesthetics" — dark, atmospheric, with subtle ancient-tech elements scattered around the map:
- Ancient tech pillars
scattered in the new POIs
- Glowing rune markings on
Climatizer walls
- A new "old-god" statue
near Tree Settlement
- Subtle environmental
storytelling (dead wildlife, abandoned camps)
The aesthetic is a major shift from the "high-tech industrial" feel of the previous World's Edge. The community reaction has been positive — the map feels more "alien" and more characterful.
Map rotation impact
The new POIs change the meta for rotations. The most-impacted routes:
- East-side rotations —
now go through Climatizer + East Village (was Fragment East)
- South rotations —
Tree Settlement is the new "safe rotate" (was Lava City)
- Mid rotations — the
central open area is more contested (Countdown is the new center of combat)
Expect Diamond+ ranked to see a 2-3 week adjustment period as players learn the new rotations.
Comparison to other Apex
map reworks
- Kings Canyon 2.0 (2021)
— the only comparable rework, the map was rebuilt from scratch
- Olympus rework (2024)
— the most-recent rework, added 2 new POIs
- World's Edge 2.0
(2021) — the previous big rework, added Fragment East/West
World's Edge S30 is the most-aesthetic rework in Apex history and the most-vertical map in the game. The 3 new POIs are bigger than the 2 new POIs in the Olympus rework.
What's next
The next big map change is the Storm Point rework rumored for Season 31 (November 2026). Storm Point has been the least-played map in ranked since the Olympus rework, so a rework is overdue.
