Activision reveals Call of Duty 2026 — Black Ops 7 launches October 25 with a new Warzone map (Area 99), a new zombies mode, and the BO7 ranked system. The Call of Duty Next showcase was the most-watched CoD reveal in 3 years.

Activision's Call of Duty Next showcase on August 1, 2026 revealed Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 with the most details to date. The game launches October 25, 2026 with a new Warzone map, a new zombies mode, and the BO7 ranked system.
What's in Black Ops 7
- New campaign — 8-hour single-
player, returning characters from BO2 and BO4
- Multiplayer — 16 launch maps
(12 remastered, 4 new), 3 specialists, the new BO7 movement system
- Zombies — the 4-round round-
based mode returns, plus a new "Endless Horde" mode
- Warzone integration — the new
Warzone map (Area 99) is integrated with BO7 weapons
- Ranked Play — the new BO7
ranked system with placement matches, anti-cheat, and transparency reports
The new Warzone map: Area 99
Area 99 is the new Warzone map (replacing Urzikstan):
- Based on the Nevada Test Site
- 14 main POIs + 5 secondary
- 3 distinct biomes (desert,
mountain, urban)
- New dynamic weather (sand
storms, dust devils)
- A new underground POI (the
"Vault" — a vault break-in mechanic for the late-game circle)
Area 99 is the largest Warzone map ever made (25% larger than Verdansk).
The new movement system
Black Ops 7 introduces a new movement system:
- Mantle — any wall can be
climbed
- Slide-jump — slide then jump
for fast traversal
- Combat roll — 360° roll to
dodge
- Grapple — limited-range hook
(3 charges per match)
The new system is faster than Modern Warfare III but slower than Black Ops 2. The aim is to find a middle ground between the two extremes.
The new zombies mode: Endless Horde
Endless Horde is the new zombies mode in BO7:
- No rounds — waves spawn
continuously, no breaks
- Endless progression — the
longer you survive, the more XP you earn
- Meta progression — your XP
carries over between matches
- 5 map variants at launch
- 1-player to 4-player co-op
Endless Horde is designed for the "one more run" gameplay loop. The traditional round-based zombies is also in the game.
The BO7 ranked system
The new BO7 ranked system is the most-transparent in CoD history:
- Skill rating (0-5000) replaces
the old SR system
- Visible MMR (players can see
their actual matchmaking rating)
- Placement matches (10
placement matches before ranked starts)
- Anti-cheat (RICOCHET kernel-
level anti-cheat is mandatory in ranked)
- Transparency reports (monthly
reports on bans, cheater detection, MMR distribution)
The transparency is Activision's response to the "CoD ranked is rigged" complaints from 2024-2025.
