OSRS Leagues II: Equilibrium launches August 10 — Jagex's F2P-friendly seasonal mode
OSRS Leagues II: Equilibrium — Old School RuneScape's second-ever Leagues seasonal game mode — launches August 10, 2026 with F2P access, Combat Blessings, and a reworked region-unlock system. Here's how it works and why F2P access matters.

Old School RuneScape Leagues II: Equilibrium — the second-ever Leagues seasonal game mode in OSRS — launches August 10, 2026. Jagex has confirmed the seasonal mode will run for 6 weeks with F2P access for the first time, a major change from the original Leagues (2021) which required a members subscription.
What are OSRS Leagues?
Leagues is OSRS's seasonal game mode — every player starts fresh on a new game-world shard, races through accelerated progression, unlocks regions in a specific order, and competes on a points leaderboard for unique cosmetic rewards.
The original Twisted League (2021) was OSRS's first League. It was a members-only 6-week event that drew 1.5M+ unique participants and reshaped how Jagex thought about seasonal content. Trailblazer League (2022) and the Shattered Cults League variants followed.
Equilibrium is the fifth League and the first to drop the members-only requirement.
What's new in Equilibrium
F2P access
The biggest change. Players who only have the free-to-play version of OSRS can participate in Equilibrium, including:
- Access to the F2P region roster
(Misthalin, Karamja, Wilderness, etc.)
- Access to **all F2P quests, skills, and
activities**
- Eligibility for **the same point
leaderboard and rewards** as members
- 5 of the 8 expected Combat Blessings
available to F2P players, 3 members-only
This is a huge shift for the OSRS community — F2P players previously had to buy a $5.99/month members subscription to play Leagues.
Combat Blessings
Combat Blessings are permanent character buffs you unlock as you progress through the League. There are 8 blessings in Equilibrium, themed around combat styles:
- Blessed Relic: 2x XP in your 3 chosen
skills (the "main" build)
- Combatant's Boon: +10% damage in
PvE, +5% in PvP
- Tactical Wisdom: +15% magic damage,
halved rune costs
- Range Perfection: +15% range damage,
increased bolt/arrow save chance
- Slayer's Mark: 2x slayer task speed,
double slayer XP
- Berserker's Fury: +20% melee damage,
+10% accuracy
- Endurance: +50% HP, +25% prayer points
- Trickster: +20% run energy, 2x agility
XP (members-only blessing)
Reworked region unlocks
The original Leagues used a strict linear progression (unlock region 1, then region 2, etc). Equilibrium introduces a branching tree:
- 6 regions total, 3 of which you can
unlock in any order
- The other 3 require a "tier 3" unlock
from a previous region
- Players can plan their route for
specific skill or content unlocks
The branching structure is meant to make the League more replayable — different routes favor different skills.
Enhanced Relics
In addition to Combat Blessings, the League uses Relics (8 tiers, unlock every 3 tasks completed) that give major account buffs. Equilibrium's relic tree is rebalanced compared to past Leagues.
Rewards
League rewards are cosmetic only — League-specific cosmetics that transfer to the main game when the League ends:
- Top 1% of players (any region):
"Equilibrium Champion" title
- Top 10% of players: "Equilibrium
Victor" title
- Top 50% of players: "Equilibrium
Finisher" title
- All participants: "Equilibrium
Player" title
- Point milestones: cosmetics at
1K, 2.5K, 5K, 7.5K, 10K, 15K points
- Region-specific cosmetics: 1 per
region (6 total), unlocked by completing region tasks
The 6-week timeline
- Aug 10: League opens
- Aug 17: First major balance patch
- Aug 24: First region-tied tournament
(PvP-focused, in-game)
- Aug 31: Mid-league patch, 2 new
relic tiers
- Sep 7: Final balance patch
- Sep 14: League ends, rewards
distributed
- Sep 21: Rewards migrated to main
game accounts
Why F2P access matters
OSRS has a huge F2P population that's historically been locked out of seasonal content. The F2P-to-members conversion funnel is core to Jagex's business model, but Leagues are an exception because the rewards are cosmetic and the engagement is short.
Opening Leagues to F2P is a marketing bet that Leagues engagement converts to members signups via the "I just hit tier 4 and now I want a members account to do the real game" pathway.
It also helps Jagex compete with RuneScape 3 (the live game), which has its own seasonal events with broader accessibility.
