League of Legends champion tier list — Patch 16.14 (every role)
STop tier

Meta-defining. Pick or ban in ranked. The highest win-rate + pick-rate champions across all roles.

DBelow

Below average. Play at your own risk. Usually a low pick rate + low win rate combo.

FSkip

Avoid in ranked. The champion is either gutted by the current patch, outclassed by alternatives, or requires coordination you won't get in solo queue.

How this tier list works

This tier list ranks all 160+ champions across all five roles (Top, Jungle, Mid, ADC, Support) for Patch 16.14. Rankings are based on solo queue win rates above Platinum, pick/ban rates, and pro play presence. A champion can be S-tier in one role and C-tier in another.

The list below shows every champion by combined rank. Use the per-role breakdown after the cards to find your lane.

Tiers:

  • S — Meta-defining. Pick or ban.
  • A — Strong picks that win consistently.
  • B — Viable with the right team comp.
  • C — Niche picks that require specific conditions.
  • D — Below average. Play at your own risk.
  • F — Avoid in ranked.

S tier

Aatrox, K'Sante, Lee Sin, Viego, Ahri, Orianna, Jinx, Kai'Sa, Thresh, Rakan.

These champions are either first-pick or first-ban in 80%+ of ranked lobbies above Diamond. The pro presence is near-universal.

  • Aatrox (Top) — The Darkin Blade remains the king of top lane. Sustain, teamfight damage, and a revive passive that makes him nearly impossible to kill. 54% win rate, 12% pick rate.
  • K'Sante (Top) — Tank/bruiser hybrid with the best engage in the game. Pro play staple.
  • Lee Sin (Jungle) — The most-played jungler in the game for a decade. Insec kicks win teamfights.
  • Viego (Jungle) — Reset machine. Kills one target, becomes them, kills the next.
  • Ahri (Mid) — The Nine-Tailed Fox is the safest mid laner in the game. Charm + mobility + true damage. 53% win rate across all ranks.
  • Orianna (Mid) — The queen of teamfight mages. Shockwave wins 5v5s.
  • Jinx (ADC) — The hyper-carry. Rockets + AoE crit + reset passive = pentakill machine.
  • Kai'Sa (ADC) — Hybrid damage ADC with the best mobility in the role.
  • Thresh (Support) — The most complete support in the game. Hook, lantern, box, flay.
  • Rakan (Support) — Engage support with the best mobility. Pairs with any ADC.

A tier

Darius, Fiora, Garen, Jarvan IV, Sejuani, Vi, Syndra, Yasuo, Zed, Caitlyn, Ezreal, Jhin, Lulu, Nautilus, Renata Glasc.

Strong picks that win consistently. Solid in the right hands and against most comps.

  • Darius (Top) — Lane bully who snowballs out of control. Punishes melee matchups.
  • Fiora (Top) — Split-push queen. True damage on vitals melts tanks.
  • Garen (Top) — The eternal beginner pick. Still works at every rank.
  • Jarvan IV (Jungle) — Flag + Q combo is the most reliable engage in the game.
  • Sejuani (Jungle) — Tank jungler with perma-freeze CC. Pro play priority.
  • Vi (Jungle) — Point-and-click ultimate. Nothing escapes the Vault Breaker.
  • Syndra (Mid) — Burst mage with the best wave clear. One-shots squishies at level 6.
  • Yasuo (Mid) — The most-picked champion in the game. Wind Wall is the best defensive ability.
  • Zed (Mid) — AD assassin who deletes carries. Shadow combo is unreactable below Diamond.
  • Caitlyn (ADC) — Longest range in the game. Lane bully who controls space.
  • Ezreal (ADC) — Safe pick with skill-shot damage. Never out of position.
  • Jhin (ADC) — Four-shot burst ADC. The fourth shot is a guaranteed crit.
  • Lulu (Support) — Enchanter who makes carries unkillable. Polymorph is a mini-Stasis.
  • Nautilus (Support) — Point-and-click CC machine. Hook + passive root = free kills.
  • Renata Glasc (Support) — The newest enchanter. Ultimate turns enemy teamfights against them.

B tier

Camille, Irelia, Malphite, Amumu, Kindred, Nidalee, Anivia, Twisted Fate, Viktor, Aphelios, Lucian, Varus, Bard, Morgana, Pyke.

Viable with the right team comp. Outclassed by S and A but still functional in ranked.

  • Camille (Top) — Mobile split-pusher with a game-changing ultimate.
  • Irelia (Top) — High skill ceiling, high reward. Not for the faint of heart.
  • Malphite (Top) — One-button teamfight winner. AP build is a meme that works.
  • Amumu (Jungle) — Double Q + ultimate = teamfight delete button.
  • Kindred (Jungle) — Mark system rewards map pressure. High skill ceiling.
  • Nidalee (Jungle) — Early game pressure machine. Falls off if you don't snowball.
  • Anivia (Mid) — Zone control mage. Wall + ultimate = area denial.
  • Twisted Fate (Mid) — Global pressure with Destiny. Map control wins games.
  • Viktor (Mid) — Scaling hyper-mage. Weak early, unstoppable late.
  • Aphelios (ADC) — Five weapons, infinite combos. High skill ceiling.
  • Lucian (ADC) — Short-range burst ADC. Strong early, weak late.
  • Varus (ADC) — Poke ADC with a game-changing ultimate.
  • Bard (Support) — Roaming support with magical journey. High skill ceiling.
  • Morgana (Support) — Black Shield counters engage. Root is the longest CC in the game.
  • Pyke (Support) — Assassin support. Executes low-health targets and shares gold.

C tier

Renekton, Singed, Shen, Gragas, Hecarim, Wukong, Akali, Katarina, Yone, Lucian (mid), Miss Fortune, Senna, Karma, Rakan (out of meta build), Yuumi.

Niche picks that work in the right hands. Don't blind-pick these in solo queue without a plan.

  • Renekton (Top) — Lane bully who falls off hard past 25 minutes. 51% win rate but the lowest impact of any top laner.
  • Singed (Top) — Proxy singed is still a thing, but the proxy playstyle requires 200+ games of practice.
  • Shen (Top) — Split-push tank with global ultimate. Works in coordinated 5s, struggles in solo queue.
  • Gragas (Jungle) — AP Gragas jungle is the best AP jungler in the game, but the build is hidden behind a 60% pick rate on Gragas top.
  • Hecarim (Jungle) — The pre-nerf terror. Got his ultimate cooldown nerfed in 16.13, now A-tier in coordinated play and C-tier in solo.
  • Wukong (Jungle) — Climb king in lower ELO, falls off in high ELO where teams kite his ultimate.
  • Akali (Mid) — High skill ceiling, 47% win rate in solo queue. The gap between pro Akali and solo queue Akali is the widest in the game.
  • Katarina (Mid) — Pentakill machine, but you have to be 200 games deep to get value. 49% win rate for most players.
  • Yone (Mid) — Yasuo's older brother, slightly worse in every way. 51% win rate but a ban magnet.
  • Lucian (mid) — Used to be S-tier mid, nerfed into the ground by 16.10. Still playable, still outclassed.
  • Miss Fortune (ADC) — Lane bully, but her ultimate is the only engage and it gets cancelled by every form of CC.
  • Senna (ADC/Support) — The fasting Senna nerfs finally landed. Still good as a support, mediocre as an ADC.
  • Karma (Support) — The flex support is back, but only as a counter-pick into engage comps.
  • Yuumi (Support) — The ban-or-pick support. If you don't ban her, you better be playing a one-shot comp. 53% win rate, 8% pick rate, 35% ban rate.

D tier

Teemo, Kayle, Volibear (top), Warwick, Sylas, Azir, Smolder, Sona.

Below average. Play at your own risk.

  • Teemo (Top) — The troll pick. 49% win rate, 12% pick rate, mostly played by one-tricks and players who want to ruin their team's day.
  • Kayle (Top) — The "I scale" pick. 46% win rate, takes 35 minutes to come online, and your team has already ff'd by then.
  • Volibear (top) — The rework was a nerf. Top Volibear has 48% win rate and is outclassed by every other tank.
  • Warwick (Jungle) — Was a terror in 15.x, nerfed into the ground in 16.10. 47% win rate in solo queue.
  • Sylas (Mid) — Used to be S-tier. The endless ult-steal nerfs and AP item nerfs have pushed him to D. 49% win rate.
  • Azir (Mid) — The pro play god, the solo queue troll. 46% win rate in solo queue, 70% presence in pro play. The widest gap in the game.
  • Smolder (ADC) — The new Vayne, but worse. 45% win rate, requires 4 items to come online.
  • Sona (Support) — The hardest enchanter to play. 50% win rate, but only because of OTPs.

F tier

Akshan, Yummi (if you don't ban), K'Sante (after the 16.14 nerf).

Avoid in ranked.

  • Akshan (Mid) — The revive mechanic was nerfed twice. 44% win rate, 2% pick rate. The "scoundrel fantasy" is dead.
  • Yuumi — See above. Ban her or lose. The 53% win rate is a lie — she's at 60%+ win rate in coordinated 5s and 45% in solo queue. The variance is too high.
  • K'Sante (after the 16.14 nerf) — The 16.14 nerf hit him harder than expected. If you didn't already main him, skip.

Notes on the meta

Why Aatrox and K'Sante are S-tier together: Both top laners have revive mechanics (Aatrox's passive, K'Sante's ultimate). In a meta where the average teamfight lasts 8+ seconds, having a second life is the strongest stat in the game. Expect both to be permabanned in 80%+ of ranked lobbies until either gets a nerf.

Why Ahri is back in S-tier: The 16.12 charm buff + the 16.13 mobility buff pushed her from A to S. She's now the safest blind-pick mid laner in the game. Pick her if you're below Diamond and want a guaranteed 50%+ win rate.

Why the ADC role is so compressed: The top 3 ADCs (Jinx, Kai'Sa, Caitlyn) are all within 1% win rate of each other. The bot lane meta is the most stable of any role, which means the ADC you main is almost always the right pick.

Why support is the most volatile role: The 5 viable supports (Thresh, Rakan, Lulu, Nautilus, Renata) all have 50%+ win rates, but the 6th-10th supports are all below 48%. If you don't pick one of the 5, you're at a disadvantage.

Counter-picks worth knowing

  • Into Aatrox: Camille, Fiora, Irelia. All three can dodge his Q sweet spot and punish his cooldowns.
  • Into Lee Sin: Vi, Hecarim, Sejuani. All three have point-and-click CC that ignores his W shield.
  • Into Ahri: Zed, Sylas, Akali. All three can follow her ultimate and assassinate her in the roam.
  • Into Jinx: Caitlyn, Draven, Miss Fortune. All three can punish her weak early game.
  • Into Thresh: Morgana, Janna, Lulu. All three can either block his hook or disengage.

How to climb with this tier list

  1. Pick one champion from S or A tier in your main role. Don't one-trick a C-tier champion.
  2. Ban the hardest counter to your main pick. If you main Ahri, ban Zed. If you main Jinx, ban Caitlyn.
  3. Play 50 games on your pick before judging it. Most champions have a 30-game learning curve.
  4. Watch high-ELO streams of your pick. The 1-trick streamers (faker on Ahri, doublelift on Jinx) are the best teachers.
  5. Adapt to the patch. When a new patch drops, check this tier list for changes.

FAQ

What changed in Patch 16.14?

Aatrox got a base damage buff that pushed him from A to S. K'Sante had his ultimate cooldown reduced, which made him more flexible. Renata Glasc was hotfix buffed after a week of under-performance. Yasuo got a Q cooldown nerf but he remains A-tier.

Should I one-trick a champion or play the meta?

If you're below Diamond, play the meta. The win-rate advantage is real (3-5% over off-meta) and compounds over many games. Above Master, one-tricking is fine — your individual skill outweighs the meta.

Why isn't my main champion on the list?

This list covers champions with at least 1% pick rate at Platinum+ ranked. Champions below that threshold are usually specialist picks, troll picks, or off-role picks that don't belong in a meta tier list. Browse the full champion database for every champion's per-role tier and win rate.

How often does this tier list change?

Every two weeks when Riot ships a new patch. We re-rank after every major patch and minor hotfix. Bookmark this page and check back on patch day.
