The Esports World Cup 2026 closes out this week, Aug 20-23, with three days of CS2 at the Accor Arena in Paris and the final Club Championship decision. The $75M tournament ran July 6 - Aug 23 across 25 tournaments in 24 games, with the main venue at the Paris Expo Porte de Versailles and the CS2 Grand Final at the Accor Arena (Bercy).

The CS2 Grand Final

Aug 20-23 at the Accor Arena (Bercy). The CS2 tournament is the only event held at the Accor Arena — the rest of EWC ran at the Paris Expo Porte de Versailles.

The format is 8-team double-elimination → Bo5 Grand Final on Aug 23. The 8 teams are the top finishers from the group stage (which ran Aug 12-19). The CS2 winner takes the largest single-game prize pool in EWC 2026 and 1,000 Club Championship points — the swing that decides the $7M Club Championship race.

The Club Championship math

The Club Championship is the cross-game ranking that awards a $7M bonus pool to the top clubs based on their combined finish across all 25 tournaments. The current standings (as of Aug 16) on the EWC 2026 standings page:

The math is brutal: AG.AL and Falcons are the only two clubs that can win the $7M Club Championship. AG.AL leads by 400 points. The CS2 winner takes 1,000 points.

Scenario A — AG.AL wins CS2: AG.AL → 5,100 pts. Falcons can match at 5,100 only if Falcons finishes 1st in CS2. Two clubs can win CS2 from the current 8-team bracket; the math becomes "if your club is in the CS2 final, you can win the $7M."

Scenario B — Falcons wins CS2: Falcons → 4,700 pts. AG.AL stays at 4,100. Falcons wins the $7M Club Championship by 600 points.

Scenario C — neither AG.AL nor Falcons wins CS2: AG.AL wins the $7M Club Championship (only 400 points ahead, but the swing is too large to overcome without a 1st-place CS2 finish).

Format: 4 Bo3 matches

What to watch: The 4 highest-seeded teams from the CS2 group stage play. The losers drop to the lower bracket.

Aug 21 (Thu) — CS2 lower-bracket round 1

Format: 2 Bo3 matches
Time: 14:00 - 18:00 CEST
Where to watch: Free on the EWCF Twitch + YouTube channels
What to watch: The 4 upper-bracket losers + 4 lower-bracket teams play for survival.

Aug 22 (Fri) — CS2 semifinals

Format: 2 Bo3 matches (upper-bracket final + lower-bracket semifinal)
Time: 14:00 - 22:00 CEST
Where to watch: Free on the EWCF Twitch + YouTube channels
What to watch: The 4 remaining teams play for spots in the Grand Final. The Club Championship math starts to crystallize.

Aug 23 (Sat) — CS2 Grand Final + EWC 2026 closing

Format: Bo5 Grand Final (lower-bracket winner vs upper-bracket winner)
Time: 18:00 CEST (16:00 UTC)

What to watch: The CS2 Grand Final decides the 1,000-point Club Championship swing. The closing ceremony follows the Grand Final.

The 5 things you shouldn't miss

AG.AL vs Falcons Club Championship race — the 400-point gap is the smallest of the entire tournament, and the 1,000-point CS2 swing makes it a coinflip. Watch for Falcons to push hard in CS2.
The 15-year-old SF6 champion Craime — the youngest EWC champion in any game, and one of the youngest major-tournament fighting-game champions ever. Watch for the emerging Street Fighter star.
PARIVISION's Dota 2 win — the Chinese organization took the Dota 2 title over more-favored Western teams. PARIVISION is now the strongest Dota 2 organization in the world.
MLBB Spirit 4-3 Yangon — the closest Grand Final in EWC 2026, decided on the final game. The single most-watched match of the tournament so far.
