The new mode: Memory of Chaos XL
Memory of Chaos XL is a 2-stage version of the endgame mode Memory of Chaos. Each stage has 2 boss fights with shared team restrictions. The XL variant doubles the Stellar Jade reward per cycle (from 800 to 1600) and unlocks at Equilibrium Level 4.
The new mode is a direct answer to player feedback that Memory of Chaos had become too easy for veteran players. The XL variant scales the boss HP and damage by 1.5x.
The new characters
- Feixiao (5-star Hunt, Wind) — single-target
DPS with a follow-up attack kit. The strongest Hunt character since Acheron.
- Lingsha (5-star Abundance, Fire) — healer
with break-effect scaling. The first healer that works in Super Break teams.
- Moze (4-star Hunt, Lightning) — fast ult
cycling, the best 4-star Hunt in the game.
Feixiao is the headline banner character and the most-anticipated unit of the year. The 50/50 loss protection resets for her banner.
Why it matters
Star Rail has been losing players to ZZZ and Wuthering Waves in 2025-2026. The 3.4 patch is HoYoverse's biggest response to the player bleed — more rewards, more endgame, more characters. The August timing (3 weeks after WuWa's 3.5) is deliberate.
What's next
Version 3.5 launches September 24 with the "Trailblaze Continuance" expansion — a new permanent zone added to the main story. Version 4.0 (December) will introduce the 8th path and a major combat overhaul.
