Overwatch 2 Aug 12 hotfix — D.Mon Plasma Saber buffed, Nano Boost + Fade bug fixed

Blizzard deployed an Overwatch 2 hotfix on Aug 12, 2026 focused on D.Mon — the newest hero (released Aug 5, 2026 in Season 19). The hotfix buffs D.Mon's damage and mobility, and fixes two notable bugs.

D.Mon buffs

Plasma Saber (primary fire):

  • Damage increased: 60 → 65 per hit
  • This is an 8% damage buff to D.Mon's primary

fire, which is her main damage source in team fights

Boosters (movement ability):

  • Fuel consumption rate: 40 → 25 (37% reduction)
  • Fuel regeneration rate: 15 → 22.5 (50%

increase)

  • Net effect: D.Mon can stay airborne **~33%

longer** during teamfights, which dramatically increases her survivability and ability to chase down low-HP targets

Fusion Repeater (secondary fire):

  • Damage increased: 15 → 16 per pellet
  • Reload time reduced: 6s → 4s (33% reduction)
  • The damage buff is small, but the reload

reduction makes D.Mon's sustained damage ~20% higher in extended fights

Bug fixes

Nano Boost + Fade interaction (Moira):

  • Previously: using Fade (Moira's movement ability)

while Nano Boost was active would remove the Nano Boost buff

  • Now: Nano Boost persists through Fade, as

intended

  • This was a major bug for Moira players —

Nano Boost + Fade is one of her strongest combos

D.Mon Power Barrier interaction (D.Mon):

  • Previously: D.Mon could become **temporarily

invulnerable** if Power Barrier was deployed while Fusion Repeater was active

  • Now: Power Barrier properly protects D.Mon

without the invulnerability glitch

  • This was a major bug — D.Mon was effectively

unkillable for ~2 seconds in some teamfights

Paraíso spawn room (map):

  • Fixed a bug where the **second attacker spawn

extended into playable areas** (a small geometry issue)

Meta impact

D.Mon was already A-tier before the hotfix (released Aug 5, 6 days ago). After the hotfix:

Damage: 60 → 65 primary fire (+8%), 15 → 16 Fusion Repeater pellet (+7%) + 6s → 4s reload (-33%) = net +20-25% sustained DPS in extended fights

Mobility: 37% less fuel consumption + 50% faster regen = ~33% longer airborne time in teamfights

This pushes D.Mon from A-tier to S-tier in most team compositions. The hero can now:

  • Confirm kills more reliably (higher DPS)
  • Survive dives better (more airborne time)
  • Apply sustained pressure (faster reload)

D.Mon vs the meta DPS roster

With the buffs, D.Mon now competes with:

  • Sojourn (A-tier, 28% pick rate in ranked) —

D.Mon is now a direct competitor, similar DPS profile but more mobile

  • Tracer (A-tier, 22% pick rate) — D.Mon is

more mobile than Tracer and has higher sustained DPS

  • Genji (B-tier, 18% pick rate) — D.Mon is

similar in mobility but has much higher sustained DPS

Most pro teams will likely swap Sojourn for D.Mon in the next OWL Champions stage (Aug 18). D.Mon's buffs push her from "situational" to "meta."

Is D.Mon the new S-tier DPS?

Yes, after the hotfix. D.Mon is now the highest-sustained-DPS mobile hero in the game. Her only weakness is that she's relatively new (released Aug 5) and most players haven't learned her yet. Expect her pick rate to spike from current ~12% to ~25-30% over the next 2 weeks as more players learn her.

What to play if you main D.Mon

The hotfix makes D.Mon much stronger in:

  • Dive compositions (Winston + D.Mon + Lucio)
  • Deathball compositions (Reinhardt + Zarya +

D.Mon)

  • Poke compositions (Sigma + Ashe + D.Mon)

The hotfix makes D.Mon weaker in:

  • Bunker compositions (Orisa + Bastion) —

D.Mon's airborne time makes her a worse bunker buster

What to play if you don't main D.Mon

If you main a DPS that's being outclassed by D.Mon:

  • Sojourn mains: stick with Sojourn for now

(her rail + 125 damage headshot is still one-shot territory). D.Mon doesn't one-shot squishies

  • Tracer mains: switch to Sombra (better

anti-D.Mon) or stay on Tracer (still mobile, better burst)

  • Genji mains: switch to Pharah (better

anti-air matchup against D.Mon) or stay on Genji (still has the best burst in the game)
