Diablo Immortal Season 15: the new Helliquary raid

Diablo Immortal's Season 15 "Bone Prison" patch goes live August 18 with the largest content drop since the game launched in 2022. Blizzard and NetEase announced the details at the BlizzCon 2026 panel.

What's new

  • 12-player raid: Cathedral of Bones (first raid

above 8 players)

  • 2 new Helliquary bosses (Lilith and Diablo,

the first 2 of the "Prime Evils" series)

  • Monetization rollback — the Legendary Crate

system is being removed entirely

  • New zone: The Dry Steppes (Act VI content)
  • Cross-progression update — mobile and PC

accounts now share all progress, not just currency

The 12-player raid

Cathedral of Bones is the first raid designed for 12 players instead of 8. The encounter has 4 bosses and a final phase with a 6-minute enrage timer. The drop table includes the new "Bone Sovereign" set (6 pieces, 4-piece set bonus) and 2 new Legendary gems.

The 12-player format lets Blizzard design more complex mechanics (split groups, multi-tank, coordinated movement) that don't work in 8-player groups. The Cathedral is the first of 3 raids planned for 2026.

The monetization rollback

This is the headline change. Blizzard is removing the Legendary Crate system entirely:

  • Before: $5 per crate, 1-3 random Legendary

gems, no pity system, pay-to-progress in PvP

  • After: All Legendary gems are earnable

through gameplay, no RNG purchase wall, PvP is 100% cosmetic-only

The rollback is in response to a class-action lawsuit in California and pressure from the Korean game rating board. It's also Blizzard trying to fix the game's reputation after the $1M whale-spending scandal in 2024.

Why it matters

Diablo Immortal has been the most-controversial ARPG in gaming since launch. The monetization rollback is the first major sign that Blizzard is willing to sacrifice short-term revenue for long-term player trust. If successful, the rollback could be a template for other mobile-first Blizzard titles.

What's next

The 2026 roadmap includes:

  • Season 16 (October): New PvP mode "Bone

Wars" (24-player, FFA, last killer wins)

  • Season 17 (December): First-ever PC-only

content drop (a new zone and a 16-player raid)

  • 2027: Cross-play with Diablo IV (the

"Eternal War" expansion bridges the two games)

FAQ

When is Diablo Immortal Season 15?

August 18, 2026. Maintenance starts at 10am PT and runs for 4 hours.

Do I need to spend money to play Season 15?

No. All content is free. The Legendary Crate system is being removed, so the pay-to-progress system is gone.

Is the Cathedral of Bones raid hard?

It's the hardest content Diablo Immortal has shipped. Expect 20-30 attempts before your group clears it. The 4 bosses each have 2 phases with different mechanics.

Can I play with my friends on a different

platform?

Yes, the cross-progression update in Season 15 means mobile and PC accounts share all progress (currency, items, characters, Paragon levels). You can play on mobile, switch to PC, and continue with the same character.

What is Helliquary?

The endgame PvE mode where you battle bosses from Diablo lore. Season 15 adds Lilith and Diablo as the first 2 of a 6-boss "Prime Evils" series running through 2026.
