TI 2026 Day 3 recap — TEAM VISION (PARIVISION) became the first team to qualify with a 2-0 over Team Spirit. Nigma Galaxy clinched the second slot. OG, Xtreme, and HULIGANI are eliminated. 10 teams play Aug 16.
Day 3 locks the playoff bracket
Three days into the TI 2026 group stage, the Swiss bracket is half-decided. The 8 teams that win 3 series advance to the playoffs; the 8 teams that lose 3 series go home. Day 3 was the most consequential day of the tournament so far — 3 teams clinched direct qualification to the upper bracket, 3 teams were eliminated, and 10 teams advanced to the Aug 16 Elimination Round for the remaining 5 playoff slots.

The clinchers: TEAM VISION, Nigma Galaxy, and Team Liquid
TEAM VISION (4-0, 8-2 game record) — first team qualified for the playoffs. TEAM VISION (the broadcast tag PARIVISION plays under at TI 2026) capped an undefeated run through the group stage with a 2-0 sweep of Team Spirit in the Round 4 3-0 Playoff Advancement Match. Game 1 was a 37-minute stomp on red; game 2 went 54 minutes and closed out the series. Satanic's Juggernaut ignored the final team fight and took the throne to seal the sweep. VISION is the tournament's #1 seed.
Nigma Galaxy (4-1, 8-2) — second direct qualification. Nigma sealed the second 3-1 Playoff Advancement slot with a 2-0 sweep of Team Spirit in Round 5. Nigma's path was bumpier — they lost to HULIGANI 0-2 in the Round 2 0-1 bracket, then won four straight to lock the upper bracket. SumaiL and GH's late-game decision-making is the difference: the team's Round 5 win over Spirit (a team that had beaten them 2-1 on Day 1) was the most impressive of the day.
Team Liquid (4-1, 9-5) — third direct qualification. Liquid reverse-swept Aurora 2-1 in Round 5 to claim the third direct slot. Liquid's Round 4 win over Iron Wing (2-1) was the team's third straight reverse sweep, with Nisha on Ember Spirit closing both games after a 47-minute Iron Wing game-1 win. Liquid is the #3 seed.
The eliminations: HULIGANI, OG, and Xtreme Gaming
HULIGANI (0-4) — first team eliminated. HULIGANI (formerly L1GA TEAM) lost to OG 1-2 in the Round 4 0-3 Elimination Match. The EU qualifier team played 4 series and never won one. The team's path was brutal — they opened 0-2 against Iron Wing and BoomBoys, then lost to Nigma and OG. HULIGANI is the first team out.
Xtreme Gaming (1-4) — eliminated. Xtreme lost to Team Resilience 0-2 in the Round 5 1-3 Elimination Match. XG was the consensus #2 seed coming into TI, behind only Falcons. The 1-4 finish is one of the worst by a direct invite in TI history. Xm's mid-lane was the team's only consistent performer.
OG (1-4) — eliminated. OG lost to GamerLegion 0-2 in Round 5, dropping to 1-4. The SEA representative is the second SEA team to bow out of the tournament (the other was Aurora at 3-2, but Aurora is still alive in the Elimination Round). Yopaj- and bzm had a quiet tournament after a strong season.
Round 4 results
The 3-0 Playoff Advancement Match (both teams 3-0 entering) was the only Round 4 series with playoff implications. The remaining 7 matches determined seeding for Round 5.

The storylines I'll be watching on Aug 16
1. Can Iron Wing keep the Tundra magic alive? Iron Wing (formerly Tundra Esports) is the ex-Tundra roster (Pure, bzm, 33, Ari, Whitemon) playing under the broadcast tag. The team's 3-2 record includes a Round 3 win over Team Falcons (2-1) and a Round 5 win over Team Yandex (2-1). 33's hero pool is the deepest in the tournament. The matchup vs GamerLegion (NA qualifier) is the most important of Iron Wing's tournament.
2. The CIS region's playoff chances. 5 of the 10 Elimination Round teams are CIS-region: Aurora, Team Spirit, Team Falcons, LGD, Team Yandex, and BoomBoys. (Aurora is officially registered as EU/CIS.) If 3 or more CIS teams qualify for the playoffs, it would be the largest CIS representation in a TI main event since 2018.
3. The Nigma redemption arc. Nigma Galaxy's 4-1 finish is the best in the org's history at TI. KuroKy and GH are playing like they did in 2018. The team is locked into the upper bracket of the playoffs — and the only Eastern EU team with that honor.
4. The Falcons' slump. Defending TI 2025 champions Team Falcons are 3-2 and in the Elimination Round after a Day 3 win over BoomBoys. The team was the consensus pre-event favorite. A loss to Vici Gaming on Aug 16 would be the first time Falcons miss the TI playoffs since 2022.
